About this design: The secret life of this modest household chemical manifests itself spectacularly under polarised light. As the crystal film absorbs moisture from the surrounding air, bright imperfections in the crystal structure highlight areas of greater thickness. This phone case is designed with an image of Epsom salts from under the microscope.
Epsom Salts was created by Matt Inman, a graphic designer working at Push Creative, a small branding agency on Sydney's Northern Beaches. In late 2014, Matt started using his very second-hand Leica ATC2000 microscope to explore the possibilities of polarized light microscopy as an artistic medium - definitly works!!!
