Working with soap bubbles, soap films and foams are Kym’s area of expertise, her extreme macro images have intrigued, inspires and informed those she collaborated in the course of her work. Extreme macro photography is always a challenge, even more so for Kym because her liquid bubbles, which continually drain under gravity, will suddenly burst. Kym recently completed a two year residency with Prof. Stefan Hutzler at the Foams & Complex Systems Group, School of Physics, Trinity College Dublin. As a direct result of her mastery photographing and videoing bubbles she made an exciting new discovery in bubble structure formation and to which is currently under research at Trinity. The Royal Photographic Society (RPS)/Siemens selected her bubble photographs to show in their touring “International Images for Science” in 2015 and 2016. In August 2016, the RPS and renowned British Photographer, Brian Griffin chose Kym’s art series ‘Grace’ to exhibit alongside Griffin’s “Himmelstrasse” series in London.
