OPTICAL FOLOWERS COLLECTION
These beautiful flowers are a simulation of the electron-light interaction in multi-layered graphene. Graphene is a SUPERmaterial, incredibly strong yet very lightweight, and being only a single carbon atom thick it is virtually 2D - causing it to interact with light in a unique way. This research investigates modifying the structure of graphene to 'tune' its properties: In this case, some of the graphene layers are rotated resulting in a modification of both electronic and optical properties. This is explored for optoelectronic applications such as solar cells, ultra-fast lasers and touch screens... G-WIZZ
